Recently, the KCM shaft sinking project undertaken by NFC in Zambia received the Chinese National Quality Overseas Project Award (silver medal, 2010-2011), and at the same time won the First Prize of Outstanding Engineering Design awarded by China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association. NFC signed KCM project EPC contract in 2006 and completed in April, 2010. As the first overseas nonferrous metal mining shaft sinking project undertaken by Chinese enterprise, KCM project created Chinese and African records on drainage, ventilation and single rope lifting capacities. NFC adopted European standards on the project design, equipment manufacture, construction and management, and at the same time has been keeping the National Safety Management Record for no casualties during project construction in mining industry in Zambia.
